Subj: Welcome to the Pacific Northwest
1. If you have just arrived here I want to take this time and welcome you aboard to the Pacific Northwest. There are a variety of things to do in this area with your family, friends and co-workers. The PNWCWOA is one of those things I would like you to consider to be a part of. As a non-profit organization recognized by the Coast Guard Leadership we provide a valuable tool to the Coast Guard community and support for there families. The Pacific Northwest Chapter started in 1959 and is the largest chapter in the Coast Guard. Some of the events and support functions we have conducted in the past include; Pier 36 BBQ’s, Turkey Raffles, 50/50 raffles, and of course auctioning of the Capt Abney bottle. These fund raising events have lead to the direct support of CWOA Scholarship fund, CG Enlisted Person of the Year dinner, USO at SEATAC Airport, Douglas Monroe gravesite cleanup, Chaplains prayer breakfast, Hurricane relief, Seattle Karkey Park cleanup, Memorial service for two Coast Guard Divers, and many more.
2. Annually in January we have our Installation of Officers dinner normally held in Seattle at Pier 36 in the Bear room. Our guests include the D13 Commander, ISC Commanding Officer, and a Representative from the Chief Warrant Officers Association in DC. This is a great opportunity to enjoy an outstanding dinner and meet other Warrant Officers and their families, either active duty, Reserve or Retired.
3. Every other month we send out a newsletter and our web-site is www.pnwcwoa.org.
4. If you are considering becoming a part of the CWOA and this Chapter please e-mail me at wzuehls@uscg.mil or give me a call. Welcome aboard!
